I’d argue that the open source software was what saved them. The Microsoft engineer who found the issue was able to look at the code and ask questions. The same can’t be said about closed source software. The number of eyes on those platforms is much smaller.

I lost faith in privacy when I heard that Facebook was correlating the liking of Hello Kitty to emotional instability. If people are reading tea leafs to figure you out, you have no privacy.
