Same freehand saw-work and basic stampwork. Six iterations of a larger flowering-medicine stamp adorn her dress. The moon in her left hand bears large 8-pointed stars bookended by 5-pointed ones. Her right hand holds a plummy amethyst; over her shoulder, another braid-wire serpent.

As always, all of them are saw-cut freehand, with two simple stamps to evoke face and bun, another paired to create her cuffs and a single on for her necklace. Her dress here is adorned with a single stamp repeated five times: an Eye of Spirit, symbol of illumination and guidance.

Today's #TBT feature is a ring with a technically-unknown focal stone. It's just barely possible that it could be an unusual brown carnelian. It's old. We think, though, that it's actually old smoky quartz.

The focal was built around a beveled square of what looked like smoky quartz: rich brown with hints of red, seemingly opaque until held to the light. It might have been an odd brown carnelian, but it looks like smoky quartz.

He elected to keep the flowering symbol, but exchanged the hoop for an old-style five-pointed star. The first design represents life in a good way; this one is life itself, the recognition that we grow from literal stardust.

Once Wings had the proper length, while it was still flat, he went to work on the band design. The earlier two-stone featured a simple alternating pattern of two stamps: a flowering-medicine motif, and a sacred hoop.

Half-round wire is convex on the outer surface, and even the thinnest gauges have some depth to them. Creating a ring band in the proper size is a lot more complex than just cutting it to the circumference of the size on a mandrel; the post explains in some detail how it's done.

She has several other pieces by Wings already, including several rings, one of which is one of his two-stone wrap rings with a slender by solid band of sterling silver half-round wire. She expressed an interest in this ring having a band in a similar style.
