yep. and while it's earlier in the year it's also a hotter year, surface temperatures in the gulf are about the same now as they were then Harvey did benefit from high pressure systems across the southern US whereas currently we've got some lows and mixed fronts across the southeast, but still

also i'm up in the twin cities and there's been just... a weird permanent low trough that won't go away up here lately. it's great in a way i guess cuz it's not a drought, but i distinctly remember things like when hurricane andrew floated up there in the 90's. that tore up our fence it was insane
