Therapist said that due to being an army kid I had to develop exceptional masking skills because I changed schools every 2 years. When she said that I had been an actress this whole time I almost burst into tears on the spot
I wasn't a military kid but we moved every couple years when I was little, too. MD, TX, NY, VT, NY again, VT again. Dad worked for IBM which stands for "I been moved". It was really fucking rough, I feel for you.
Yea. Air Force kid here. Definitely understand that. You either are super socialable or extremely damaged as every friend just kinda gets abandoned and replaced every other year (especially before global communications became ubiquitous).
yeah, i can relate to this a bit too. not an army kid, but my family moved around a lot when i was growing up too, mostly not by our choice either. had to constantly deal with starting over again with everything. so yeah, that is when the masking skills come into play.
I was sent to mime school .......it was horrible, They did unspeakable things to me......... When I spoke out I was expelled..... I guess actions speak louder than words ....
25 schools before I graduated high school, many times 2 schools a year.
Iβve never had a therapist be as insightful! Mine just say βWowβ and skip ahead.
