I have a spare copy of The Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee for loaning out to people. (Just did quite recently.) I really need to get a copy of Biting the Sun (the Four BEE duology in one volume) because there's no way I'm loaning out my signed copies of the individual books!

Clare Quilty's cover of "Rebel Rebel" is a bit of an acquired taste (I played it for a friend of mine and she HATED it) but I quite enjoy it.

I swear by loose powder because I often cut recipes in half or even quarters so I can serve just one, and it's a lot easer to level a quarter teaspoon than to slice a cube in fourths.

Went to a docent tour of the High Museum and saw some neat stuff then gave Dutch Art in a Global Age a go because I kept abbreviating my trips and skimming past the last room or so both times. Wonderful work! Loved the one about the pickpocket and the satin skirts, Glad I gave it another chance.

The thunder is rumbling, the sky is darkening, and I cry out to the heavens "Rain down! Rain down! For I am lazy and my tomatoes need watering. Rain down!" And, lo, the rain came down. (Just as soon as I finished typing the above. Seriously.)

It was perceived as scary because it induced motion sickness, which some people mistook for fear. There are whole psychological experiments on how people's emotional reactions are shaped by how they feel they SHOULD be reacting.

Paywall, sorry, but...OMG THE STUPID! AI is NOT THAT SMART. "Uploading" your brain to a machine (a technology we're NOWHERE near having) just means, at best, you'll have a machine that remembers the same things you do. Your consciousness will still live in your head.

Yeah, I don't have ADHD (I was checked thoroughly for it and the answer was no) and the history of socks on Wikipedia sounds like excellent procrastination bait. It doesn't require any effort beyond a little clicking, and striving for goals takes much more out of you.

You know there WAS a sequel to The Blair Witch Project, right? It's about a group of people going on a Blair Witch tour as if the first movie was real, and then spoooooky things start happening. It was dreadful. It made the first film look good, that's how bad it was.

I hadn't realized that myth was circulating. I do remember suspecting that a lot of the audience was composed of aspiring filmmakers who were hoping to place a vote of confidence in videotape as a legitimate medium for mainstream release.

I was forced to watch The Goonies at a slumber party (it was back when you could only rent videos for one night at a time, and they were going to recover their sunk costs) and I've despised it ever since not just for its badness, but for all the time lost that could have been spent on cooler stuff.

I saw an article about research that indicated if you feed an AI AI-generated content, it gets worse and worse and worse. Now that there's so much AI content on the internet, any LLM that feeds on it is going to poison itself.
