It turns out a lot of our system was built upon the hope that bad actors wouldn't act badly. It's kindof amazing that it (sort of) worked up until now.

I mean, basically what I'm suggesting is giving the tournament goers an official way to hack pokemon. So whatever they need, beep boop bop, they can dial up their perfect team without sinking hundreds of hours or unofficially hacking the game.

My question is: Why haven't they implemented a rental system in tournament play? Like they had for the Stadium games. You can still pick your team and their moves, all the stats are preset to "best", but nobody has to worry about whether a 'mon is hacked.

And on the other side of that, smartphones have made the average consumer think (not necessarily incorrectly), "technology is a thing meant for me!" Which opened the door for techbro snakeoil salesmen to step in and go, "Can I interest you in this NFT? It uses Technology to make your life better!"

A teacher once told me, "You can't be there to explain it to every single person." If the message of your work is misinterpreted, then that's the new message of your work. You either have to spell it out clear as day, or be okay with the eventuality that some people will see it differently.
