There are a lot of live action productions with main characters who are novelists, performers, and TV/film producers, so the general public are capable of understanding characters who are creative professionals. But there aren't many high-profile productions about cartoonist/comic author characters.

I'd like to be proven wrong. I am wondering if this is indicative of the attitude the general public has towards animations and comics, and the people who make them. I even know of Korean productions about main characters who are webtoon authors (horror movies like Ghost Mansion, and Killer Toon).

I'm watching 7 West Mars Street, a Chinese cartoon. The main character is a fictionalized representation of a cartoonist and comic author, this is a rare character trope, I've seen it used in Japanese animation, but I can't recall any equivalent examples of it used in a Western animation production.
