I've been feeling broken today. Daring to stand against my aunt's ignorant and hateful attitude towards trans people has caused a rift. It wouldn't bother me so much, but she's been helping my father and now she's planning on leaving and I feel guilty. I absolutely loathe far-right politics.

The whole thing was making me feel sick, too. I had to get out of the situation. My father didn't want me to feel like I had to leave, but I couldn't help it. I had to sit in my car a while before I could even drive. And after all this I feel like I'm the one who screwed up.

The whole thing was bothering my father. He knows she's in the wrong, but trying to argue with someone who is brainwashed by far-right media is a losing battle and the excitement isn't good for him right now.

Of course she also tried to use the ability to have children to define women. My father pointed out that plenty of cisgender women can't have kids. I don't think she liked that.

Sure enough, she started playing some anti-trans content. I mentioned I didn't like how it was misgendering people and making false claims. She proceeded with a "I don't mind trans people except" bit complete with misgendering and insulting people's looks.

I've been doing my best to get along with my aunt for months. She was very good to my mother and she's been very good to my father. Unfortunately she also has a history of saying bigoted things. It's been a problem before.

Having a bigot in the family is heartbreaking. My aunt was helping out while my mother was on hospice, and she's been helping my father since he ended up in the hospital. Today she started some anti-trans bullshit and I dared to speak up. Sounds like she's going to stop helping.

Contrary to what some people claim the US doesn't have a great healthcare system. Sure we have wonderful doctors, nurses, and other medical staff, but between management and insurance companies things get screwed up an awful lot.

I'm glad people CAN purchase LGBTQIA+ merch from big stores these days, but as an LGBTQIA+ business owner who staffs queer people, if you have the spare moment to look for queer small business in June, 100% of that money goes toward queer survival, versus a 10% tax write off for big corporations.

I'm doing better tonight. We're finally getting some answers about what's going on with my father. Even though we don't have test results we found out they've been keeping him to readjust some medications. I'm not sure why it was so hard for them to tell us, though.
