I am currently blogging about this but yes what Maddy said I’m earnestly so confused about why people need Andor to be the most extreme expression of left wing thought they ever encounter
Like, I'm mad Andor didn't go far enough. It could be a conversation starter for people who had never considered the issues raised, but it's never going to be an all-encompassing manifesto. People just don't like to be told they're not thinking critically or applying theory to life
it's great for there to be really simplistic, 101 level antifascist fiction but i literally don't get why people would be screaming that they absolutely will not engage with anything that is 102 level. like.... ok? some of us have graduated from middle school
Safety, I’m wondering? Turning rebellion into a controllable narrative/family friendly ride? I wonder if, in cases like this, it’s manipulation/de-fanging meets the denial that we stupidly think will protect our comfort. Does my head in trying to work it out
Some people REALLY need their consumption to be activism because that means all they need to do is watch and read the 'right' things to create positive change.
