Had a fun "Senior Alumni Afternoon Tea" at my high school yesterday. The headmaster gave a talk about how the school is doing, including the mental heatlh support programme for students. This drew both praise and laughter because some of the "masters" who taught us in the 60s were clearly deranged.

These “old boy” events are worth attending if only for the horrified reactions you get from current students when they hear our tales of the physical “discipline” techniques employed by teachers in grammar schools in the 1960s, like caning, head smacks, and high velocity wooden blackboard erasers.
