It got up to 87 today, 92 with the humidity. I’m barely functioning and wearing as little clothing as I can get away with while not traumatising my offspring. My sympathies for those of you suffering through even worse heat.

This summer I’ve spent a lot of time in Montreal and the Eastern Townships of Quebec. I’ve really been noticing food prices. There is inflation on both sides of the border but groceries, produce, restaurants…everything is more expensive in Vermont. Is something else going on beyond exchange rates?

Vermont spiders seem nice and unless my rescue services are needed I tend to let them be. But Northern Californa spiders, in particular those huge redwood spiders WAAAAA!! I get the willies just from the memory.

I just went in to my son’s room to rescue him from a spider. Proud of myself because 1) I am terrified of spiders and have always been the one needing rescuing and 2) I sang the Ghostbusters theme while capturing the wee beastie in a glass.
