When the bar has been set so low for so long, it’s almost giddying to have credible, experienced, serious people in cabinet and to be spoken to with respect and understanding. Clearly, that’s the least we deserve. Right now it feels transformational.

It's a testament to how bad things had gotten, that 'party does what it said it would do in campaign' is celebrated as a massively exciting achievement! (And to be clear, scrapping the Rwanda scheme was A Very Good Thing™️

Agree. I am cautious and sceptical about how genuinely Labour are going to effect real change, but to hear James Timpson as the new Prisons minister talk about prison reform made me feel quite emotional. The kind of discourse that should be the default but has been missing for so long.
