Well, it's more that they just become a tagline and people start thinking they are benign. But Freeports and SEZs are a serious problem and one issue I have with Andy Burnham.

I don't know if you remember the fake WhatsApp jokes The Secret Tory account used to put out? I used to find the Simon Clark charactor popping up with 'Freeports' the funniest bit... until I discovered what they actually real and realised that making light of them wasn't the best idea.

I think personally think he's reached his limit and he does what he does very well instead. I like him too, though I don't agree with him on some things... wow, who would believe people are capable of admitting that, huh? 😄

Yeah, she was another big reason for me not going with Channel 4 at all. Sky was pretty good for the talk stuff (Burnham and Davidson played very well together) but they were a bit woeful with actually reporting the bloody results!

But I don't think they will be heavily involved with cross party work on other issues. Could be wrong though... depends on whether they are engaged with by other MPs or they may understandably annex themselves.

I've been having a look at some of the independents. The Leicester South guy ran with a fairly sound platform but unfortunately his statement in winning makes me assume he's there for one reason (and that's not to take away from that very important reason).

I watched an old episode od HIGNFY the other day with BJ on it and one thing that struck me was... it just wasnt funny. And not just because of knowing what he's really like now. It just wasnt 'funny'... it was just novel at that time. Dorries etc don't even have that.

But she always has been. I think all the memes and video clips and impersonation have altered our perception of reality. 'Legend' Dorries is far more funny than 'real' Dorries. Who is just a hateful cow.

If I was in his position I'd look at the Wes Streeting result in particular. On paper, there is no way that should have been that close. But, most people like the NHS, aren't consumed with hate for trans folk, and don't like genocide.

Unless (and I really hope it's not the case) he actually believes the same as Duffield & he was still just chasing every possible vote, I think he will see that actually it wasn't a particular vote winner & in several places a lot of the recent rhetoric on several issues actually cost them a seat.

I'm *really* hoping Carla D and the other greens get on board with the Lib Dems on social/environmental issues because on that they seem very similar. Since finance is going to be controlled by Reeves (😐) they can at least team up to be some moral driver. I hope, at least.

One (of many obviously) my issues with Labour was that so many candidates were clearly put in due to backroom maneuvering, and with very clear agendas. Whereas people like her do seem to be much more likely to just want to 'make things better'. I'm delighted to see ED's call for cross party work.

She is this time. It's grade 4 (the last grade before going en pointe - which she wont be able to do because her feet are still growing) so pretty challenging. She'll do fine though.

Not particularly, though kiddo has a ballet exam. Just lots of fairly mundane stuff to work through in a short space of time now that my 'non-work' hours are more limited. But I'm always happiest when I'm 'forced' to be busy.

Completely! That's exactly what I want... if something good comes of it, Idgaf who proposes or works on it (though I'd add a caveat, that if it was someone like Farage or Braverman, I'd definitely question their motives).
