Im woo-woo and believe an intelligence explosion is inevitable and that the emergent super-intelligence will be benevolent (🤷). but the situational awareness blog, and this development is painting a dark picture of what they want. They saw Oppenheimer and wanna smoke and brood in the dessert.

We really should be looking harder at the info a handful of companies have and are collecting - and shouldn't be. That last part - monitoring and surveillance - already exists in quite a few places. It's not benevolent. Never has been.

One thing I’ve learned from @attackerman.bsky.social is that the intelligence establishment has backed Silicon Valley from its early days because it understood how valuable all our data was going to be for spying and intelligence gathering. This is just the latest example.
