I just finished Witch King, by Martha Wells. It was fine. I liked the worldbuilding. The ending kinda fell flat for me 💙📚

I don't really listen to audiobooks, but the dad from the vvitch should do horror or fantasy audiobooks 💙📚

My two main genres are fantasy and Catholic detective novels. There are plenty romantasies, not sure about the other

I'm thinking about reading a romance novel, a genre I've never read and don't expect to enjoy 💙📚

Legally, if you see a a typo or a grammatical mistake in a book, you are allowed to kill the author and take their place

This happens a couple time in Gormenghast. In an otherwise completely fantasy setting, a character will mention Christmas crackers or Virginia creeper

Cool, like Fahrenheit 451 bit where they compress all of Shakespeare into a single pamphlet or whatever. Not a sign societal decay at all

All it needs to do is follow the rules it establishes for itself. Beyond that, let's relax people

Father Brown seems weirdly unbothered by all the murders around him. He's always fucking around, like they're all fun little novelties 💙📚

I don't know why I didn't expect there to be a lot of racism in The Innocence of Father Brown, a book written by a British white guy in 1911 💙📚

My reading pet peeve is the phrase "had had." Like, "He had had that shirt for a decade." I know it's grammatically correct. I just don't like how it looks/sounds 💙📚

I feel like the "speculative" modifier doesn't really add anything by itself. In the WWII example, "alt-history" would give a clearer picture

Is there a good reason to use the term "speculative fiction?" It seems like you only use it if you think it's too cringe to say Sci-fi or fantasy 💙📚
