Don't forget that the GOP is only concerned here with political power, not whether they're on the side of the majority. This is an issue that divides Democrats, and unites Republicans. Nothing could be better (to them) for the election.

I try to separate Netanyahu and the IDF from Israel. People in Israel are also protesting, calling for Netanyahu to resign. The protests have been huge, but ignored by Netanyahu. He doesn't care what his people want or what the US asks. He has his own goal which is all that matters to him.
