I had a physics teacher in highschool tell us that when people talk about “centrifugal force”, what they’re really talking about is centripetal acceleration. Funny the stuff that sticks in your brain for decades. No idea if he was correct. 🤷♂️

If the Earth were the size of a basketball, the oblateness of the spheroid would be about 1/30 inches (about .9 mm) in the diameter. Unless you're dealing with optics, this is as close to perfect as has any meaning.
