“You don’t accomplish anything by posting” is such a ridiculous & boring take.
I have learned so much from so many people on social media just from them posting. I have shared that information with others. We have changed our behaviors based on information to impact communities & ourselves.
I've met at least a dozen people on Twitter and Bluesky who've literally changed my life for the better. Being in a small town would be so much more limiting if not for these platforms.
I have learned so much and am grateful for the information that has kept my family safe throughout the Pandemic
I value political and climate change knowledge
I treasure the beauty of nature we share everyday and I would have missed the Aurora if it wasn’t for Social Media
Yes! there's things that don't work/don't work as well remotely, but I've learned/been exposed to so many different perspectives & ideas in my 3 decades online. It has worth & is also "real life."
+ same for the folks who call reddit worthless; you just have to be critical abt with what you engage.
Posting has done a lot of good for me, to hash out my thoughts.
But, I am getting more into the idea of 'presence', like, maybe at community meetings. I've been apathetic to politics for a long time, but there's a threat right now which I need to know where our local leaders stand.
In the absence of an optimal CDC, in the presence of systemic gaslighting – the pandemic is one of countless examples in which posting is taking care of each other
I didn't come here to accomplish things, I come here to see the gay little people who live in my phone say funny this.
Everything else is just getting in the way and giving me hypertension.
Agree 100%. And hell. I interact with flat earthers on Twitter!
I think I have met some of the brightest people I know trying to deal with nonsenses on-line.
