It is 2024 and my dad texted me a WSJ link at 6:30 AM about driving stick shift to sincerely note that not only is my car harder to steal, I have a potential competitive advantage in the valet driving world.

My 16yo son has a 5 speed Ford Ranger. Apparently his girlfriend's parents excitedly tell everyone about it like he got early acceptance to Harvard or something.😂

I once had a car wash guy get back out of my car, point, and say, “Is that a stick shift?!” He wasn’t sure. To be fair he was probably 16.

My son wanted a stick shift in his first car. The used car lot had to call someone in from home because they had no working at the moment that could ride along and knew how to drive it.
