I love how instagram tells on itself, "wow your post reached 4,000 people!" Yeah that means 2% of that group liked the post, or that your metrics are super inflated

Sadly, I didn't get to use the meteor hammer much longer! And just when I was getting good. I think my roommate took it back, and got spooked about neighbors seeing me use it or who knows what.

And that was the end of the stairs. From about ten feet away, I launched the meteor hammer their way and demolished them step by step. My aim was really good! It felt pretty bad-ass, although it was just breaking up rotting wood.

By this time, several cycles of sunny days and pouring rain had worn the shit out of the "free stairs," to the point where they weren't really safe to sit on anymore. So I figured I'd start using them for target practice.

*training montage* Eventually I got pretty good! At least to the point where I could control the meteor hammer's motion, let it fly off at tangents toward targets, and pull it back into a swinging motion. Plus I figured out how to bring it in / wrap it without hurting myself!

More often, though, stopping involved a soft thud and "oof" as the spiked ball came to rest pleasantly somewhere on my torso. Then I'd spin around and let it unwind and lengthen the chain, and start over again.

And usually that involved letting the chain wrap around my arms/body a few times until I could control the shortened length of it plus the spike ball.

The meteor hammer was a very decently heavy ball with dull spikes on a long metal chain. Just swinging it around in loops was incredible exercise, but the harder part was control, getting it to a stop.

Halloween passed and the meteor hammer weapon stayed at LOLcatraz. So, of course, I took it out in the backyard and began the sometimes painful process of getting familiar with it.

Fast forward to October, Halloween, and a friend of my roommate put together a *really* good costume of Gogo Yubari, the schoolgirl with the ball-and-chain weapon (Kusari-fundo or meteor hammer) in Kill Bill. Somewhere or other, said roommate even ordered a real version of the weapon.

We put the display rack stairs out on the deck in the back yard, and for the longest time they worked as weird deck chairs and as places to put plates and drinks, whenever we were hanging out or had parties.

A couple texts of inquiry and twenty minutes later I found my roommate and, sure enough, "stairs" that were old wooden display racks left out on the street. We bungeed them in the trunk and took the stairz and my roomie and myself back home.

This was many years ago, so some of the details are fuzzy. I was living in a place called LOLcatraz, where a mix of gamers, devs, DJs and folks that needed a place for a bit lived and stayed. It was an awesome place and we held the best parties
