The roles ARE reversed. Trump falls asleep in public, fails to speak in complete sentences, and tells meandering Grandpa Simpson-esque stories every goddamn week, but faces ZERO pressure from within his own party (or really from the other party!) to prove his mental acuity.

A lot of Republicans did abandon Trump after the Access Hollywood tape (which was much closer to the election) because they never liked him and they figured he'd never bounce back from that. Oops. But you're absolutely right, they're much more disciplined now than Dems are (and they need to be).
