Wouldn't one just potentially go straight to the Office of Legal Counsel, ask for them to declare X to be an official act, then do it. And then of course, because you control the OLC as POTUS, you staff the OLC with people who will say yes, obviously official act.

Right. It could have been a trainwreck in the DNC. Instead she told her delegates that they were going to cheer Obama and they either did that or didn't boo. Because her staff had picked actual people who understood they were there to support what HRC wanted, not what they might want.

Particularly in the sense that everything they described the DNC doing to Bernie was actually done to HRC in 2008 — DNC literally cancelling votes even. Except HRC looked at how Obama was gathering support and went, he's the better candidate, I'll swing my support to him instead.
