I'm just randomly running into a youtube channel. It does nothing special, in fact it does the same thing I do on the occasion I stream or upload... 2 million subscribers. In situations like that I feel like something is off beyond the fact that internet popularity is bullshit anyhow.

It's a thing which seems likely to me right now, that this is happening, but which I also notice isn't really what most people consider as possible to explain some of the behaviour of parties & people for... reasons? Some people just have a gut-feeling of "they would never", as if there was a bar.

When watching the UK and US elections one thing I'm noticing is there's a decent amount of politicians who can do more for the far-right if they enter other parties & change or sabotage them, than they could were they to campaign for their intended party. Which is checking out with what's happening.

A truism I never like hearing is stuff to the effect of "genocidal regimes don't last". They absolutely do. If you can only think of one or two regimes, that means there's room for you to look into the topic more & second guess your opinion about some of the countries alive & thriving today.

Played the early-access version of "Thrive" & the game's interesting. It's an open-source community project people launched to spite the state in which Spore was released back then & Thrive's still under development 15 years later. Soundtrack's really good, microbe state's playable, rest is concept.

Global temperatures were extremely hot in June 2024, at just over 1.5C, beating June 2023's previous record-setting temperatures by 0.14C and coming in around 0.4C warmer than 2016 (the last major El Nino event). Now 2024 is very likely to beat 2023 as the warmest year on record

I feel like Anno 1800 has spoiled me with how there's just a lack of "Tools" as a construction resource. "Tools" in older Anno games like 1503 were this necessary thing which you couldn't produce right away, so you had to rush tools production with higher settler tiers or buy tools off of the AI.

The string of horrible furry media coverage in the early 2000s didn't exist in a vacuum. It was part of a massive post-9/11 push for jingoism and "normalcy" on TV. So everybody "different" or "marginal" would be portrayed as a villain or be made the target of mockery. Hence furry marginalization.

could also be interesting to make an operation between the two, because I would half-expect there to be a spacial bias with countries that develop little while constantly being portrayed by people living elsewhere & the converse. Which is a thesis that could be investigated.

If you play a strategy game in the most optimal way it's no fun to me, it's math. You know exactly which operations to take & it will be the same every time until the game itself changes. Instead of doing that, I just like doing whatever's cool to me in a game. Cool units, map painting, and so on.

What more could they be asking for? Something like a Britain has all of the benefits while not even having to pay for maintenance anymore & what money it or any aristocrat may choose at-will to send over can be written off as charity. Like saying "we're doing them a generous favour doing it really".
