Wait: was it the guys who wanted the guillotines or the guys who didn’t want the guillotines who ended up on the guillotine? Ehh. Yawn. Off with your head.

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

Rent bikes for your family of six! If you just grab them and bike away from the counter before they can charge you, that's free too!

110%. This was the bank-robbers caught in the act offering to give a few bucks back if everyone agreed to look the other way while they made off with the rest. This means these plaintiffs will get a lot less. But the Sacklers will hopefully get sued into oblivion. And that’s just.

The Sacklers looted the company of billions when the writing was on the wall and then offered some back in return for immunity without themselves going through bankruptcy. It might be “bad” for these Plaintiffs that they won’t get that money right now, but it is GOOD for the system SCOTUS said “no”.

Yup. But what tragically sad reality, and what sad commentary on the state of our country and politics.

Congratulations in advance to the two 27 year-olds who will receive the big bump from “President of my law school Federalist Society Chapter” to “Associate Justice of the Supreme Court” in the next 4 years. FML

Assange is, at worst, a Russian operative and, at best, a non-state actor who is hostile to the US. I hope he doesn't sleep well.

While I agree with you, I’d point out that you could have saved yourself several tweets and just posted this. I think we can all agree the proper conclusion to draw about anyone who proudly self-describes as a “polymath”.

They shouldn’t have fucking bleeped it. When the man himself says “they pointed at me and said that ***** doesn’t eat here” you let people hear the ugly racist fucking truth.

What "conversation" is being had by someone who *doesn't go to a site* because they don't like it because they think it's full of assholes? Don't they have more conversations if they go to the site, and like it because they just block the a-holes and talk to folks they like?

Or, you know, you can go to sites you like except for the annoying jack-holes ... and then just block the jack-holes. The only way one could possibly object to that best-of-all-worlds is if being blocked by someone else results in feeling the pang of suddenly wondering:

Ehh, if coinbase is really including the tax/vat in the transaction cost, then I suppose so. But that sure isn't how it appeared based on the way you described it. If that's so, it's immaterial that the "tx happens on the blockchain" the point is that its still taxed if that cost is included.

That's not the basis of taxation. What you are describing is literally tax evasion. The taxable event is the good or service. This isn't new. The argument you're making is literally the same argument stores made about sales they made on the internet. It was not a winning argument.

"[T]he tx happens not he blockchain" is not a thing. The taxable event is the good or service that you obtain by way of the monetary transaction. You and I can go to the moon and you can pay me with moon dust. But if the end result is you get a good or service here on earth, you owe tax.

So yes, your argument is "tax fraud" (because no, you do not suddenly avoid the obligation taxes or VAT simply because the "money exchanges hands on the blockchain". Jesus fucking christ. I mean, you know that, right?

Yeah, they do that. When I see it starting to come in big bunches I try to take her to the doggy hotel/groomer for the day and have them give her a shed-bath and a brushing -- usually keeps me from having to deal with the worst of it.

Really? Oh wow. Mine sheds like 4 times a year. And the regular day-to-day is enough that I usually end up running around dustbustering-up the rolling tumble-furs at least once a week in between vacuumings! lol.

People absolutely go to jail for cheating on more than $1M. I have no real gripe with the tax charges; but the gun charge manages to combine selective prosecution for political reasons, on a charge no one is prosecuted for on these facts, which is also probably unconstitutional for good measure.

Where selective prosecution had any rational application, this case was a poster-child. Just another example (like QI) where The Law as dictated by court fiat bears absolutely no resemblance to what any rational person knows the law *should* be.

No matter what the issue, Boomers have to have been through, endured, or suffered more. "I paid off MY [$2,000] student loan debts! Kids these days are moochers." Just doesn't matter what the issue. Boomers are just the most spectacularly selfish generation.

Fun fact, the world's 4 largest airforces include the U.S. Airforce, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Navy. The Russians manage to sneak in at #3.
