So apparently in France, at the end of Macbeth, Macbeth and MacDuff don’t slug it out. Instead they have a conversation steeped in philosophy and, finally, Macbeth dies from an existential crisis.

Democratic primary voters chose Biden as the nominee, and the person Biden named to replace him if he couldn't serve is Harris. Anything else is just the pundits' usual "brokered convention!?!" fantasy, with extra racism and/or sexism.

And just like that, the college would be rid of two nuisances at once. Administrators could do what administrators do — hold meetings, codify rules, debate policy, give and attend workshops, and organize social events — w/o having to deal with whiny students and grumpy professors.

Dr Fauci’s book tour inspired me to watch the film adaptation of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. Christ wept. When are we going to get politics out of the way of public health and just help those who need helping? (I guess I know the answer. Just posting out of exasperation.)

There are a number of best of Donald Sutherland lists. Many of them get the essential performances - Klute, MASH, Ordinary People - but I would like to put A Dry White Season on everyone’s radar. It’s a film about apartheid-era South Africa also with Zakes Mokae, Susan Sarandon, and Marlon Brando.
