Maybe I'm worrying over nothing but I think there's a danger we head down the French route. Starmer disappoints a la Hollande, left vote fractures. Reform cleans up their image enough to scoop more voters disaffected by main parties and wins more MPs. Opens door for coalition with Tories.

Basically London is far wealthier than everywhere else in the UK. Tories promised to close that gap by investing in left behind areas. I reality they spent time trashing London and allocating funds to their own constituencies regardless of whether there were other poorer areas in need.

I haven't thought of him as being particularly good. Has he done much to solve problems that are ultimately caused by under investment? eg Councils still struggling due to central govt cuts. Crumbling hospitals and schools? Cuts to HS2 including the final section to HS2. Housing.
