Still astonishing to me how a major US political party has decided extreme thick-headed stupidity is the only way forward. Trump ally Candace Owens: ā€œI'm not a flat earther. I'm not a round earther. Actually, what I am is somebody who has left the cult of science. Science is a pagan faith.ā€

I donā€™t agree with any of that. The polling tells a different story and the EU has already made intimations.

I agree. The Tories are the big threat. Once theyā€™re gone, then we can have a debate about policy.

If it was about keeping the Red Wall Leavers on board he could just throw out a few platitudes. Saying categorically no rejoin, no CU, no SM, ā€œin my lifetimeā€ is too strong to row back.

It seems like bad politics at the very least. Polling shows there is no enthusiasm for Labour - everyone just wants the Tories gone and Starmer is the best vehicle. Post-election he *really* needs to build a coalition to keep going. Alienating allies will damage his project.

People think the Murdoch press is bad now. Itā€™s not, not remotely, compared to how it used to be, and magnified because they had huge sales then. Here, via historian Robert Saunders, The Sun consulted a medium to discover Stalin would have voted Labour, Churchill for Thatcher. Genghis Khan was a DN

One of the amusing ones is Badenochā€™s seat. Loads of postal votes havenā€™t gone out. If Labour challenge the result she wonā€™t be able to stand for the Tory leadership.

Itā€™s about standing up to the Far Right. Telling the people of Clacton what Farage really is. To shrug and walk away is a negation of responsibility.

It was just redeploying resources to winnable seats. I think it was a mistake - thereā€™s a national duty to challenge the Far Right and stop it getting a foothold.

Smaller Labour, higher Conservative based on historic turnouts. But this is such a weird election. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if the Tories were sub-100.
