I like to think my 45 years of reporting on technology and business has left me sceptical rather than cynical but the behaviour of some tech companies is such that sometimes readers might be better served by the latter approach.

I don't think I could watch that TV show... after 40 years of writing about technology and attempting to warn that kind of thing could happen it's just too depressing to be proved right.

That's right. And large organisations know that. They know the whole thing is asymmetric, for them it is peanuts, for the individual it is life changing (and not in a good way)

Whenever I think about law, the word "asymmetric" is always there in the background.

I guess these days the school would call out the National Guard if there was a project like that?

Yeah, the rumour could be wrong. I wouldn’t know because I’m not a customer of any fast food chain*, I may have eaten from chains maybe a maximum of 10 times in my life. * although back in the day I did pizza.

Isn't it pig fat? I vaguely remember there was one fast food company's milk-shake-style drink that Jews and Muslims couldn't touch. (Although that may have been when I was living in Australia).

I reckon its the places that have the large paper cups printed with a red giraffe and "world's tallest drink" that have the best ones...

Ah... but the point of that image was that home taping most certainly did not kill music. It did mean that for a brief time music companies were less profitable, which is another thing entirely.

No. Haven't seen this. I'm finding NetNewsWire is excellent, That feed mentioned earlier doesn't open, but I think it might be incorrectly formatted.

It's probably a bit optimistic inviting people to spend 5 minutes on a Friday evening reading about what NZ needs to do to make sure everyone has decent, reliable, affordable communications. So click the link and bookmark it for when you're in the mood.

I notice from the UK election results there is a Yorkshire party. Are they looking for independence? Can anyone from that part of the world enlighten us?
