It's also we need improved transit so that there's a need for fewer and better designed (read smaller vehicles that can still account for mobility devices) cars. The goal isn't zero cars. The goal is most ppl being able to do the activities of daily life easily without driving /2

this kind of pollution - pm2.5- also comes from car tires so switching to EVs especially in cities doesn't fully fix this. In fact the pm2.5 from car tires is higher with EVs because they're heavier than comparable internal combustion vehicles. It's not just "stop burning stuff" /1

We had our roof done last year. Very good, very professional folks who did an excellent job. However, they did show up unannounced on the first day to do the demo work. Surprise! You are getting a new roof this week!

The most important kind of road bike by sales is an endurance bike which has a shorter reach and a higher stack height. This lets middled aged men with the salaries to afford them to don lycra on a weekend and ride them comfortably. (My colleague who raced in college cannot ride his old bike.)

It is amazing to me how many e-bikes are upright and with the top tube the allows you to pass your leg through. I have rant about mountain bikes that compares them to SUVs in use and design but really no one wants to read that …..

Would KCWI work? Keck time is available through NASA (so comes with funds). The fov is smaller than MUSE, so you would have to tile but the telescope is bigger. Or do you need lots of lasers magically making the seeing better?

A colleague brought this up regarding even old housing stock (1930s and 40s). I gather not running heat and not keeping up with leaks can cause catastrophes. One house got demoed and another red tagged.
