I know someone who got recruited to run for state house in Illinois a few years ago, who took one meeting with the party, found out how much personal money it would likely take to probably lose, and noped out. And that doesn't even factor in the unworkable time commitment.

This will continue to become an even bigger problem. We are ruled by the Money Class. You might not have any money when you enter politics but if you are a Republican you will suddenly find yourself very wealthy with no bank accounts. 😉

I thought about running to state rep a couple of times, but they make about 2/3 my salary and I have a family.
