Tonight. First run before research and notes for Monday's episode of 99 Cent Rental. We're getting real weird with it.

That movie is surreal in a way that's hard to put into words. Like, if someone told me that there's a real murder in there somewhere, I wouldn't doubt it.

His original draft of Rolling Thunder was like a southern version of Taxi Driver where Rane is thoroughly unlikable and a fraud "war hero". There is some pathological shit going on in that dude's head.

Just my advice: Schedule a session. Mostly for your own sake. Walk-ins always result in rushed work and you're paying a lot of money for bad ink.

I really want to know what it was about Paul Schrader that made him write these movies about men driven over the edge.

I watched Vigilante and now I'm watching Rolling Thunder. This is a very, very angry double feature and I don't know what that says about me right now.

I've long wanted to run a campaign of Hunter: The Reckoning set in 1983 Manhattan that pits a neighborhood coalition of hunters against a crime syndicate that weaponizes Jiang-shi for their criminal enterprise.

I really need to get rid of these wood-grain details on my iceman. I could really go for that something that matches the cream color around the pickups. Unfortunately, removing them means unscrewing the bridge from the body which scares me, quite frankly.

At the same time that I was in peak physical condition, 70 pounds lighter, constantly training for fights, and lifting very heavy I was also an alcoholic of extraordinary scale and on lots and lots of drugs all the time. Was cleaning up the worst thing I ever did?

These stories were based on the folk legends of criminal, Goemon Ishikawa, whose entire arc hinges on defeating the corrupt nobility of Sengoku period Japan. Samurai movies glamorize the manipulation of the underclasses. Ninja movies celebrate people liberated from imperial tyranny.

Shinobi No Mono, for instance, was a series of movies originating from the stores of author Tomoyoshi Murayama, an actual Japanese leftist who spent most of his pre-war and wartime life exiled to Manchuria. When he returned, he wrote a series of extremely popular stories...

Ninja movies were often quite popular, though not as prolific due to the tactics of shinobi being unseemly and popularly considered cowardly. But something about the notion of hidden tribes of people, striking from the shadows and changing the political landscape of their nation struck a chord.

This is not a hard and fast rule, however. Samurai stories and movies in post-war Japan were often vehicles for the wounded national spirit of the nation. Kurosawa's samurai movies turned this notion on its head.

Been watching a lot of Japanese movies lately and a thing I've noticed is that there is political divide in the ideology of certain types of jidaigeki. Samurai movies are ferociously devoted to right-wing class ideals while ninja movies are rooted in left-wing political thought.

Sons of Steel is on Shudder. You should watch it. Something really, really weird was going on in Australia in the late 80's/early 90's that produced these utterly bug-fuck genre movies that are nearly impossible to describe.
