This happened where I live, as in the small businesses directly experienced increased business due to traffic calming as opposed to having to trust a study, but they convinced themselves it was something related to the pandemic and are still trying to get the traffic calming taken out.

Yes, I think the reason people get so mad they got caught is bc they werenât intending to speed or do anything reckless, but we put 6 lane roads through a neighborhood and set the limit at 35. You stop watching your speed closely, go with the flow of traffic, before you know it youâre going 45.

The city my sister lives in was recently rated poorly for summer tourism because of the airport and transit, and the local paperâs response was that itâs an easy drive from the major airport a couple hours away, just completely missing the point of why people on vacation might value good transit.

When talking about traffic calming, I so frequently find myself defending it from the perspective of a driver too. No right on red? Awesome, I donât want to have to pull out to see if anyoneâs coming, judge how fast theyâre going, feel pressure from people behind me, etc. Just let me wait for green!

Not in NYCâIn my 20s I used to move around every year like it was nothing. Then I had a couple long distance moves that were company sponsored where they come and pack all your stuff, no problem at all. But a couple years ago, late 30s, I did a local move on my own and I thought it might break me.

This is how Iâve felt watching the whole DEI panic while working at a large corporation that boasts about their âDEI initiatives.â None of it means anything or has any teeth! We just get a bunch of emails that everyone ignores and the company can say they did something.

One time I was waiting to turn left, the light turns yellow, the car coming head on stops to give me a chance to turn, but the car behind them decided they were ABSOLUTELY not going to stop and switched lanes to gun it through the intersection just as I was starting my turn.

Something here in CA is that commercial buildings donât have to be built to as strict of earthquake codes as residential, which feels not super great when weâre spending a third of our day in these buildings! But, yes, does make it a lot harder to convert.

I remember my coworker complaining about Foundation because ânot everyone in the universe needs to be a black woman!â Only to find out that it was a mother and daughter. I guess he can more easily imagine a black woman having a white baby than there being two whole black women in that universe.

Once they started forcing not only ads but âsuggested postsâ into my feed (you used to be able to snooze the suggested ones) it become completely unusable, but then I realized if you go to the âfollowingâ feed, itâs only people you follow, no ads at all, AND in chronological order. Game changer.

I was in a coffee shop last week and multiple dogs got in line back to back behind me (a whole health code issue that we seem to have completely thrown out the window, but thatâs another story), and one of the owners said to the others about his dog, âwatch out, he can be aggressive.â 1/2
