I know it's too late to change things, but would ranked choice voting resolve (2)? You should end up with a candidate that a majority are "ok" with, even if they aren't their first or second choice.

I like Sanders, but his hiring decisions showed how unelectable he'd have been in the general election. It was obvious at the time that his press secretary cared more about mainstream Democrats losing than she ever did about defeating Trump.

I hope these charges are successful, but I'm worried they're on legally shaky ground. In a country with Qualified Immunity, where people frequently die in police custody without anyone facing consequences, I'm jaded towards the idea that you can enforce a duty of care on the officers here.

Unfortunately you can't fight an emotion with facts. Someone who feels immigration is out of control is not going to be reassured by facts about how they boost the economy, just as someone who feels the economy is bad is not going to change their mind from being told the stock market is high.

This^ is the perfect illustration as to the type of person these protests attract, and why they're completely ineffective at enacting any change, as who wants to associate with a person like this? Alienating the majority of the public to cater to edgelords is not a winning strategy in a democracy.

This is why I think the biggest benefit to Trump from the NYC was that it stopped it campaigning for a few weeks. The more folk actually hear his incoherent rambling on the campaign trail, the weaker he looks. See also: Trump's disastrous Covid briefings that his advisors begged him to stop doing.

Another problem is that Hamas will claim any raid is an atrocity no matter what happens. Supposedly one of hostage guards had been hired as a journalist for Al Jazeera. So on the one hand you have the IDF claiming they killed kidnappers, while Hamas claims the IDF killed a civilian journalist.

I'm pretty sure it was discussed at the time the article came out, with the conclusion that DeSantis was blowing hot air, and indeed DeSantis did absolutely nothing to prevent Trump's arrest post-indictment.

I'll just note that blocking on bsky is far more effective than on Twitter if you choose to use it. I've not looked into the details, but I believe blocking someone also removes their reply from when other folk check the thread.
