Heritage Foundation Head Refers to 'Second American Revolution' ...which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be. Mmm…

Former Welsh Secretary Sir Robert Buckland says he’s “fed up” with Conservative strategy and “cheap populism” on losing his seat last night.
Tories will now have to decide whether to vere full fascist or resurgent One Nation.

Party leader, next prime minister, safe seat. Vote 17% down cannot be comfortable.

One of the safest Labour seats* in the country sees a 16% DROP in the Labour vote. Similar in some other places giving large Commons majority, but far from a ringing endorsement. (* Despite the typical Guardian incompetence, not a new constituency.)

So the buggers… sorry, burghers of North West Essex have totally failed in their task of shedding Bad Enoch. The 26% swing against her is not sufficient consolation.

I wonder if Mercer will finally realise, albeit too late, that being strident and belligerent is not appealing to constituents. I doubt it.

America has a gerontocracy problem. It's self-sustaining because the longer the incumbents make their successors wait the more reluctant they in turn will be to retire in a timely manner.

I (54) was on a Strategic Advisory Board call for a financial sector firm this morning. Everyone on the call was a current or retired *senior* banking or IM executive. Natural Conservative territory? Everyone was *rejoicing* at potential Tory extinction.

Hungary’s presidency is a symptom of… the mechanistic ticking over of the calendar as the position is rotated through a predetermined order every six months. Granted that it doesn't make for a snappy headline.
