Yep. Also means that parties like Plaid & SNP who only stand in their respective nations get a worse deal. SNP got 9 MPs but will get less short money than Reform who got 5.

This is because short money is paid out at around £21K for each seat you win, but then parties also get just under £42 for every block of 200 votes they got. Greens = 4 MPs and 1,941,227 total votes. Reform = 5 MPs and 4,114,287 total votes

Honestly it’s stunning. You get out of Glasgow and its mountains and lochs all the way. Absolutely gorgeous. V strongly recommend the seafood shack on the front for lunch, some of the finest seafood I’ve ever had & a walk up to McCaig’s tower is worth it for the incredible views

If you’re in the mood for a jaunt suggest a day trip to Oban, purely because the train journey there is one of the most spectacular in the UK. Oban itself also nice enough for a walk round, few good pubs and places to eat etc

So if you have union recognition already at your workplace then join the union and get involved. Become a rep, get on a committee & prepare to push the bureaucrats to have the fights we will need to when Labour inevitably fuck up/weaken their so-called ‘new deal for working people’

Finally our unions (especially Labour affiliates) are going to be a key site of struggle over the next 5 years. Union officials in affiliates are generally more timid, less combative when the fight is against Labour, but this can be resisted with enough of us involved & we can push them to resist

Another big fight will be trans rights. Labour have already shown us how bad they are on this, and the risk to our trans comrades is not diminished by a change in government. Take your lead from your trans friends on how to support the fight for their rights rather than from me - but step up now

They key fight is going to be immigration. Farage has very specifically said already he’s going after Labour, and they will see demonising migrants as the way to beat him back. Don’t expect much change from how it’s been under the tories, and things might in fact get worse than they have been
