I went through the whole thing, and it's just badly written. Disjointed, waffling, just ranting and getting stuff off his chest in a tedious manner. The Polite Far Right's answer to Tobi Haslett, he is not.

*Phew*. Seeing people reflexively move out of the way if you're in, say, a lift, could be a bit funny, though.

The fetish-wear industry would be amazing. Next question: are we talking 'mild' sneezes or the ones that scare dogs, cats and french teachers

That tracks. What happens to whatever you're wearing? Not sure how conducive that is to wearing cotton shirts.

In "The Cassini Division", the second book in Ken Macleod's Fall Revolution series, the socialist Solar Union uses what are essentially *huge* futuristic versions of Babbage Machines, that are cooled down in planetoids of ice, and that still sounds like a better use than what "AI" does now.

*Makes note to develop time-machine to go back in time and tell parents to either a) move to Ireland before I was born, b) have dad respond to Pierre Trudeau's letter a bit earlier or c) ensure I have at least one randy Spanish ancestor*

There's a reason why the number of UK passports in my family and friend circles has stopped growing, to be replaced by post-uni Canadian, Aussie and US green cards and passports.

I know of a handful of friends - and their younger siblings - from Pakistan that decided against studying in the UK because of the visa and border racism shit.

It's frustrating, because yes it really does, whether in terms of aesthetics, sound and costume design, etc - like an actual bande-dessinée. It's also, in many way, a very European 90s movie because of that.

Learning about him, the cheating on his wife (Maïwenn, the blue alien diva in the film) with Milla, and his general creepiness has soured a film teen me really loved.

It was quite telling that when he pushed through immigration legislation that was pretty controversial within his own party (and led to a resignation or two), Le Pen was the most enthusiastic supporter of said legislation.

One interesting consequence of the Americans not landing on the moon first in “For All Mankind” is that the US government stops giving cover to Wernher von Braun, so he’s raked over the coals in court and in the media about his Nazi past, and is persona non grata afterwards.

Which I could be surprised, but as Taniel says, this was apparent. Complete disaster of a person, willing to sabotage any actual meaningful confrontation against the far right. When I say centrists are fatally dogmatic, this is an example of what I mean.

Another big fight will be trans rights. Labour have already shown us how bad they are on this, and the risk to our trans comrades is not diminished by a change in government. Take your lead from your trans friends on how to support the fight for their rights rather than from me - but step up now
