I mean, if someone was empathically aware of me, that is pretty much exactly what they'd get, yeah.

Meanwhile I hated that excuse in Picard. It would have been just as easy to say "even my people get old eventually" or something to the same effect.

Oh, yeah. I remember the first time I ate a Fuji apple and my main conclusion was "oh, so this is what mashed potatoes would be like if you made them with apples and sadness instead of potatoes and butter."

Dominos Pizza should make pizza dominoes. Like little rectangles that are garlic bread on half & pizza with like one pepperoni or sausage on the other

The dialogue itself isn't helping, but the actual delivery of the lines makes this sound way more aspiring-serial-killer than was probably intended.

Okay then! My one suggestion to really take the product catalog look all the way is replacing the grey fabric with ...probably posterboard, honestly. Cheap to replace as needed and available in pretty matte finishes that don't give a specular highlight when bent to make a background sweep.

I'm not sure if any of that was a useful answer to your question. <:D I can say that I have not remotely recently thought lighting was any problem with your product photos, so I don't think you have a pressing need to change things up if you're happy with your work flow.

Eventually switching to studio strobes ultimately didn't change much except that now I was shooting at 1/200 generally and didn't have to worry about being perfectly still or shooting in an otherwise darkened room. Being blinded by the lights was suddenly a risk, but otherwise no difference.

And of course dimmer for longer doesn't make much difference apart from one of convenience. I for a long time was shooting with 2 and 3 second exposures using a remote or a timer with homemade lighting solutions or entry level purpose-made lights...

I kind of like generally having everything independent because sometimes there's some pesky glare on a surface you just absolutely don't want pulling a highlight and it's easier to shift a single light than it is to try and block inside a tent or box.

Enclosure might be a little easier to execute since you're combining diffusion and bounce surfaces all at once, but you can certainly get the same effect with lights and bounce cards on stands or arms around/attached to an open table.

It's a common enough problem. And I imagine most kids watching X-Men had Bugs Bunny's context much more readily at hand than the genuine classical meaning.

Right. This foam board set up is largely meant to take the place of other diffusers. Depending how you have things arranged, it could be used together with them if you shine the softboxes in from the open front and let the light bounce off the walls to get more fill in the shadow areas.

I ended up liking open format with light boxes, but I did still utilize enclosed style sometimes. What I did for that was getting three of those foamcore boards from Dollar Tree, and some little L brackets and screwing the panels together as a free-standing unit.

Cool! I've heard good talk about it. I'm kinda waiting for a different character reuse of the mold to come along. (and am mostly glad I didn't see one at Target during the sale cause for $14 or whatever I'd have probably given in anyway)

I suppose a 3D print might be the final option. The child that I am just wants something of correct size that has lights and makes annoying noises though. :(

(keychain also lacks lights and I think the emitter is mostly represented with stickers, which concerns me after the larger part of two decades) Otherwise I guess there's the Galoob Phaser? But that's not all that accurate either and is probably also among the costlier options.

There are a couple other possibilities. 15 or so years ago there were keychains of that Phaser, which would maybe be in the ballpark size-wise. But those are harder to find now and usually on the pricey side when they do turn up

Every so often I have the desire to have a toy of the TNG Type-I Phaser. And every time I must face the reality that I would have to either spend a lot of money on a very nice prop replica, or else settle for the comically oversized Playmates toy.
