I think one of the biggest issues with the revolutionaries vs incrementalists is that progress doesn’t have an end point. You manage a problem and move on to the new one and keep working at it. Social progress is maintenance and patching and adjusting forever, there’s no Mission Accomplished moment

I firmly believe in the laws of thermodynamics are applicable to social systems. Things start falling apart at the moment of creation and it takes energy to keep them from falling into disorder. Solve one problem and another arises. Rinse and repeat.
