Also, when we cool our homes we're likely only doing a ~10 degree celsius difference, while heating in the winter can be a 20+ degree difference here on the coast. In the interior that difference will be way higher in winter.

I bought some decent open-back headphones (Sennheiser HD58X) but it's so noisy in my area with traffic, construction, and leaf blowers, that I rarely get to enjoy them. My choices are to close the windows and have a stuffy appt or have windows open and hear every screaming crow over the music

In high school I borrowed The Trigger from the library where scientists discover a frequency that causes explosives, like bullets, to spontaneously go off. I wasnt that in to it so I didn't finish but still think about that book occasionally. I should try it again one day to see if my mind's changed

When we remodeled we were seriously considering a cherry-red fridge but the reviews concerned me about the quality of it. We ended up with a big, stainless obelisk which I totally love but doesn't have the same pop. Similarly, there was only one brand of coloured ranges and they cost $8k.

Everyone worried about large language models, but I'm still back in 2010 being enraged by what ebooks are doing to libraries. Average book costs $18 and lasts 10 years (40-80 checkouts) Average ebook costs $55 for a 1-2 year lease (or 26 checkouts, whichever comes first.)
