Re: #HurricaneBeryl. Here's what I think is the most important thing to remember:

For *literally* months, the scientific community has been saying, "Look out everyone, the sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic are really hot. Hurricane season could be intense."

Today, I wrote 120 voter registration postcards to OH and WI (mostly WI) voters today. Mailed the first 55. Mailing in the morning the rest and whatever I can get done the rest of the night and before work. Turn your election-related anxieties into productive activism!

It's like @nytimes.com reporters aren't allowed to say fossil fuels and climate change in the same story.

"societies add more and more planet-warming carbon dioxide to the atmosphere"

@nytimes.com homepage: reams of climate disasters sponsored by fossil-fuel propaganda that falsely claims LNG exports have a low climate impact.

Funny rejoinder but Mother Jones, where Jeffery is EIC, was on the protesters' side.

all this huffing and puffing about the debate is ignoring the actual reason for elections: is Biden doing a better job as president than Trump did? and obviously the answer is yes.

Funny how the corporate media discussion of the debate isn't how insane and tyrannical Trump obviously is

the corporate-media conventional wisdom game. June 4: how absurd it is that Sunrise isn't endorsing Biden June 30: how absurd it is that Biden hasn't withdrawn

The @nytimes.com' Ben Hubbard goes out of his way to not directly say that the extreme heat of climate change killing thousands of people in the Middle East is caused by the fossil fuels extracted from the petrostates of the Middle East. 'Twould be rude to the petrostates who advertise in the NYT.

After 1.5 years, a Stanford Committee recommends continuing to take fossil fuel money for climate research. In a total own-goal, the report points out similarities btw this decision & Stanford's vote to keep taking tobacco $$ in 2007.

Long-time federal prosecutor Cindy Cho, in a prosecutorial memorandum, lays out the case for charging oil majors with second-degree murder or reckless manslaughter for the July 2023 Southwest heat wave, with Maricopa County alone recording 403 heat-related deaths.

“Climate change” is not a cause. It’s an effect. Burning fossil fuels is the cause. When our media uses “climate change” without mentioning fossil fuels (as this article doesn’t), it becomes a euphemism designed to shield Big Oil & placate its supporters.

Over 1,300 pilgrims died in heat that reached 125° in Mecca during the Hajj in the petrostate of Saudi Arabia. Fossil-fueled heat has also swamped the United States petro-democracy, putting 44 million Americans under heat warnings as torrential floods in the Midwest turned deadly.

I've always considered that such a misdirection. The goal is intermingled influence on the readership. Sure, it's even worse if advertisers are directly calling the shots on the reporting, but having news embedded in a lie sandwich is bad enough.

Such an amazing victory by climate youth in Hawaii!!! The state agrees to settle with youth climate activists who sued for the state's failure to protect their future. “Mai kuhihewa, young people have the power to make a difference for their futures.”
