A bunch of my friends also expressed a similar sentiment; they feel they run out of things to say and don't want to sound like a broken record, which i first of all totally get and secondly think would be mitigated a lot if there were more people chipping in every now and then

It really would be! I absolutely don't want people to stress and overextend themselves for The Internet:tm:, which is why i think it's more important that a lot of people just try a little rather than having a few people trying really hard, even if those few people are saints. :v

Eyyy very nice indeed! I can definitely confirm that the back mooscles are a fucking mess to figure out, especially when the arms get moved to different positions than an idle reference pose lol

Again, disclaimers: This is not about me, and it's not vague'ing any particular artist. If you feel this hits you anyways and think i got it all wrong, i'd like to hear from you! I frankly hope that my assumptions of disinterest are wrong, but i can't easily debunk them. (15/15)

One million people individually thinking "my single dollar won't make a difference" could result in a fundraiser making one million less dollars. The impact of one is negligible, the impact of many is significant. A lot of people just TRYING can make for a shockingly vibrant community. (14/15)

One less user who actually tries to interact means there's even less reason to be posting, then more might ditch the place, and then suddenly you have a dead community. Obviously not just due to a single drive-by dumper, but again, not blaming a single person here, it's more of a trend. (13/15)

IMO, excessive drive-by dumping results in a boring community, because A: i know almost nobody's gonna care about what i post, and B: i'm gonna get pushed out of sight quickly. So why waste the effort? I have little enough energy as it is. This might then spark a slow chain reaction. (12/15)

I'm further not saying that the impressions i get equate to the thoughts and intentions of this artist. However, i cannot read anything over the internet if it's never written, so i can only go by their actions, or lack thereof. (11/15)

Obviously, i'm not saying "TALK ABOUT EVERY SINGLE THING EVER", i wouldn't be able to do that myself, i'm just saying this strawman artist should consider saying SOMETHING to their fellows, especially something that isn't just a single word and then followed up by another dump. (10/15)

The possibly-wrongful assumptions that this leads me to make is that they're essentially just farming interactions, and my sibling in art, i am not an interaction dispenser. If i wanted that kind of shallow interaction, i'd go to twiddy, not a chatroom. (9/15)

Now, the question is, if this artist isn't interested in interacting with their fellow artists, what ARE they interested in? Sharing their art, clearly, but treating a chatroom full of people as a dumping ground feels a bit disrespectful to the others. There's social media for that. (8/15)

Petty of me? Maybe. This is mostly relevant for e.g. Discord servers, where posts can rapidly get buried and thus go unchecked. By drive-by dumping, the artist is both pushing the last post further away and showing a lack of interest in the art of others, in a very much social space. (7/15)

However, i do try, as despite my difficulties, i want to support my fellow artists. Thing is, interactions go both ways. If an artist NEVER says anything to anyone elses work, i will intentionally show them the same level of engagement, which is to say none, even if i like their art. (6/15)

Make no mistake, i'm not the gold standard of remedying this issue and i know the difficulties involved; i have low energy and social anxiety, i'm kinda picky about what i really like, and if i have to think really hard about what to say, maybe it's better to just give a thumbs up. (5/15)

Now, my issue with this phenomenon is that it shows that the artist, for whatever reason, isn't going to interact with the art of others. Perhaps lack of interest, perhaps low energy, perhaps crippling anxiety, perhaps all of them, or more! (4/15)

The impact of this is highly dependent of the platform, but they all have one thing in common: It reduces interaction. I'm not saying this because i feel i deserve more than i get, i'm actually sometimes puzzled why people give a shit about my stuff, but that's a side note for later. (3/15)

It's not restricted to artists obviously, but it's where i see it most prominently. Essentially, if the term isn't telling enough, it's when an artist just pops in, posts their art, optionally receives compliments and then proceeds to not say a single word about anything else. (2/15)

I normally don't like or want to make posts that whinge about the behaviour of others, considering how I too am an "other" to everyone else and they might have plenty of annoyances about me, but i think this one is actually damaging to art communities. I like to call it drive-by dumping. (1/15)

I will say, ONE THING i miss from twiddy is the thread posting function; it ain't easy to post ramblethreads when you have to manually post 15 parts in a row and believe you me i have a 15 part ramblethread ready :V
