The argument I'm most sympathetic to in favor of Biden dropping out is that it would stop sucking up all the air in the discourse so we could replace it with stuff like this, but that's resting on the rickety assumption that there wouldn't be another story made up to keep us from talking about this.

This is also based on the assumption that Biden voters aren't getting caught up in the whirlpool of the freakout, which would also make the susceptible to subsequent freakouts about a different candidate. This shit's complicated and uncertain!

I wasn't really phased by the debate until those internal polling numbers leaked. Of course Biden will win the popular vote by millions, no one is disputing that. But the debate genuinely seems to have cost him in all of the battleground states

most ridiculous part of this freakout has been watching so many pundits pushing the idea that Biden should quit while ignoring the realities that 1) Harris is the only real alternative and 2) her smallest gaffes will be on the front page while Trump's latest rally ramblings barely get a mention
