“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.

My heart is in pieces. We said goodbye to my familiar, my writing companion, my most beautiful friend Vera this weekend. She had really bloomed in the last few years, routinely mugging @nathanielpiha.bsky.social for snacks and making friends with Elsa Dog. Cancer isn’t fair and she left us too soon.

I loved that it didn’t romanticize anything yet still left room for hope and kindness and, well, love. And the descriptions of how people negotiated their world through different lenses, some of them rather neurolospicy but no less valid, was profoundly moving

Blue heart and books are just so it goes to the book feed. But yes! I enjoyed it a lot, but it was a hell of a thing to read at this exact moment in time. Deals with some very weighty political questions about freedom and the role of governments and how fascism can creep in when vigilance wanes
