Hi everyone! One *extremely meaningful* thing you can do to fight back is to join library boards. Usually this is an appointed position, not elected. The time commitment for most public library board members is 1-2 hours monthly.
I'm a former library director. Ask me anything.

Yeah that’s the thing, where exactly do we go to if overt fascism conquers America? Because that’s the final domino in the far right global power grab, not the first.

Tbh I actually think that if we hit a point where “I need to leave the country” becomes feasible I’ll probably just go out in style and run up some epic credit debt because if I’m not safe in America as a Jewish woman then the rest of the world probably won’t be a lot more welcoming.

Well she remains a hypothetical woman til she actually is given the nod, and polls love a hypothetical woman almost as much as they love “any woman but that woman”

Every time I left the house I said “be good, I love you, I’ll be back soon” to my dog despite the fact that he didnt speak English but it was for me, not him.

If you live in CA, both Butler and Padilla are on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Make time to call today. Then set a reminder in your phone to call again later this week.
Then tell three friends to do the same.

Today, the federal government put itself on the right side of history by seeking, for the 1st time, to establish the precedent that every worker in America has the right to shade, water & rest while working in temps that could kill them. -UFW President Teresa Romero

I posted a while ago, probably on Twitter, about how I hate the weird passive tone of these fundraising emails because this has been the general format for the last 4+ years and I hate it, and someone basically said “they do it because it works” & I just increasingly don’t understand who likes this

It’s true. I also think Budgie is so
early it gets eclipsed by the bolder episodes but man, that one destroyed me.

The United States has always been a democracy for some and a brutal authoritarian regime for others, and the effort to expand it to democracy for all has led to a 70+ year backlash culminating in SCOTUS claiming that kings are totes cool and also judges are the ones to coronate them

I don’t think Biden should step down and spent this afternoon arguing with two panicked Boomer-aged friends but I also definitely think that the Biden campaign should not send out emails that lead the reader to ask “does Joe know he’s president”

All these people say they're trying to beat Donald Trump and none of them seem to be able to take five seconds to imagine what Donald Trump would say about their candidate picked by a brokered convention at the behest of the New York Times editorial board

Crickets who where? Just because nobody organized a pussy hat march in front of your house on Saturday morning when you didn't have anything better going on doesn't mean people aren't and haven't been holding sustained protests in the streets, at city councils, and at fascists' houses for years
