“And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.” I’d like to see them try. That is literally every tech company, ISP, and carrier to some extent. You want to see the industry cripple the govt. by suspending all services in protest? That would do it.

Patreon and Gumroad recently started cracking down on NSFW content to appease the payment processors. Tumblr banned porn years ago despite it decimating their userbase. Do you really think tech companies will openly defy the federal government? They'll throw us all under the bus before we can blink.

I'd rather they never get the chance. They may even know that's a last resort and start to hunt the low hanging fruit first and work their way up. Not a scenario I'd like to be a part of.

Would they be in violation of federal contracts if they cut off the government? Sure. But outside of defense contractors, corporations make a lot more money serving the private sector. Their shareholders would likely demand they fight this tooth and nail.
