I’m not sure that’s what happens when you don’t win your constituency. Or maybe I’ve just missed those bits of the BBC Election Special?

They don’t fear friendly politicians, they fear the people - which is only to be expected really when you set yourself and your friends above any form of accountability.

If several justices suddenly died, that would probably do the trick.

Nothing says “official act of the President” like arranging hush money payments to a porm star. What a time to be alive!

The Financial Times has backed the only economically sane option in the UK's imminent general election: A vote for Labour.

These 4 graphs say it all. The historically inescapable fact is that 14 years of Tory govt, driven mad by Brexit, have been a disaster for UK prosperity.

Continuing the Teutonic theme, I did once see a stark naked gentleman wandering about the Tiergarten in Berlin while I was running through there. Apparently this is A-OK in Germany.

In fairness though, they've still cranking out those decisions, so that could change shortly.

I mean I do like Dua Lipa - and she puts on a proper show - but all her songs sound like knock off versions of better songs that you can’t quite place.

I’m must confess I haven’t tracked all the different media (didn’t Luke get married in the EU?) I guess my general point was that Jedi could always come from anywhere so I was always a bit surprised when people professed this to be a big change presented in TLJ.

I thought it was more “Jedi’s can’t form attachments to others as then they fear to lose things and that leads to the dark side” kind of a vibe - that was what Yoda implied in TPM if I recall correctly.

Where did people suppose Jedi came from? - the Jedi are celibate, so they can’t have their own children to populate the Jedi order. So surely Jedi must always have been recruited from outside the order - i.e. from anywhere?

Harris would get absolutely crushed - open convention at least gives alternatives a roll of the dice.

Well, in fairness, this is what Reform UK candidates want, so they might as well say it out loud so everyone knows where they stand.

“a few blinkered chancers trying to make a few bob on some dodgy bets” is a verbatim description of the ingrained ethos of the entire Tory Party - as the last 14 years has shown to spectacular effect. Sunak fully deserves everything he and his party have so assiduously earned.

I just thought it was rather more likely that JJA was picking up some story themes from the universe and attempting to end the Skywalker Saga with reference to the Skywalkers than that he has some sort of psychological aversion to working class heroes. Is making this observation forbidden?

Not to defend or denigrate any of the movies, maybe lineage and family are an important part of the Star Wars mythos as defined by the guy who created it? I have no idea if JJA is an aristo or a pleb - but maybe he was just calling on themes that were a visible part of the world of the story?
