Also Q: Blue cones sensitive but mostly outside fovea? Inside fovea I thought the eye was more sensitive to green? That makes sense with 5:6:5 RGB in graphics. Still quantization-tastic though.

5:6:5 (16 bit) RGB was common for a while (90s into mid 2000s maybe), though it’s pretty ugly compared to 8 bit palette to 256x 32 bit (say). R and B have half the range of G, not B though.
