Rank and file care most about not letting Trump back into office. It comes down to who can hold the "safe" Dem voters and win enough fence sitters. Based on the point, there are people who have a much better shot at that than Harris.

Trump is an idiot but you can always count on him to look out for himself first, so he'd never tell someone to do something that will make his own life worse. If he thought a different candidate would be easier to beat, he'd be the one yelling loudest for a replacement.

I wouldn't consider that directly relevant though. Harris and Smith aren't potential replacements. Harris' polling is worse than Biden's. I think that was just Trump needing to open his mouth and that was the first garbage that escaped.

Trump never shuts up. The fact that he's silent about Biden potentially being replaced on the ballot is a dead giveaway that he's scared of a younger candidate like Newsom or Whitmer entering the race.

Just like there's a minimum age to be president, there should be a maximum age too. I propose at least 10 years younger than the average lifespan, whatever it may be at the time of that election cycle.

Okay, so group 3 are the only "maybes" in your list. That means they're the ones that need to be swayed and you don't need to worry about the rest. My entire point though is that we need to win the maybes and I think Biden has lost too many of them at this point.

I'm not a religious guy, but the Serenity prayer really fits here: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference." Trump WILL be the candidate. We need to change what we can to stop him from winning.

I'm certainly not in any those groups, but I'm trying to take a 1000 ft view of the situation. 3 of those 4 groups are at least potentially D voters, and it's the potential voters, not the safe voters, that we need to be concerned about not showing up.

Totally agree. Fence sitters are mostly people who don't pay much attention to politics though. A single debate may be a major factor in how they cast (or even not cast) their vote. You can't rely on them being well-informed. Anyone well-informed made up their mind long ago.

Agree. I've seen dementia. This isn't dementia. Whatever it is though is enough to convince a lot of fence sitters to not vote for him. I have zero concern about those who reliably vote D. I am extremely concerned about those who are open to voting D and might not this time.
