A POV that doesn't seem out there is there are huge parts of the Dem base that aren't likely to take kindly with Dem elites taking away their candidate after they made their choice. SC had a primary, and Biden got 95% of the vote.
It's the independents you have to worry about. The pissed-off parts of the Dem base will still vote for the nominee.
Independents may not like Newsom, Shapiro, Harris, Whitmer or someone else (who?) replacing Biden.
What choice lol? The incumbent is the presumptive nominee with only fringe opposition. It would be more illustrative to look at voter turnout for each primary. I agree there is no real way to replace him on the November ballot regardless
Know I'm just one random data point, but I was glad to vote for Biden - just three months ago! - to lead us. If the elites decide that 30 minutes of debate theater criticism matters more than 3.5 years of his record as president and my actual vote, I know I'm going to be absolutely furious.
They sure didn't take kindly when they replaced Sanders with Hillary. If I was American I would have voted for Trump the first time around and hoped that nothing needing an adult happened in the next 4 years. I would have lost that gamble and been full of regret.
OK, but that choice was 95% for Biden among the listed candidates. I'm not sure Biden was really their "choice;" a lot of Democratic politicians weren't running out of deference to the incumbent.
