For video games it can be the same. Much of the games pre 2010 are more or less lost with 90s and before having massive quantities being no longer available and on mediums that arent made to last.

These games are not "lost" they are almost all widely archived as ROMs. There is a difference between "lost" and "not currently available for purchase" and we really should be careful about conflating them.

I'd love @retroxp.bsky.social to write more on this as he does really strong coverage of old games, including games that are no longer easily available.
